I admit it. I'm not a nice fan. I don't like the Red Sox. I don't care of many of their fans. I don't have respect for their history or their rings. I don't like them at Tropicana Field trashing my team. I don't like them trashing Florida. I don't like them rubbing their rings in my face.
So, to say this weekend was satisfying is a big, huge understatement. I enjoyed watching Red Sox fan go from cocky to dejected with the swing of a bat Saturday night. I enjoyed watching Red Sox fan meltdown on twitter as it became more apparent that the Rays were just too much for the Red Sox.
Look, we can all be friends again after the season is over. But, for now, I'm enjoying the moment. The Rays are better than the Red Sox. They've proved it in the standings. They've proved it on the field. This just isn't there year. No amount of justification or attendance talk is going to change it. So take that, Red Sox nation.
Here are some other random observations from Fenway South this weekend:
-My Rays tattoo sleeve is pretty cool, but the woman next to me with the giant "B" on her arm came off much more manly than I did.
-Props to ghe guy wearing the Trot Nixon jersey. Too bad the guys around you didn't know who it is.
-To the girl with the "I only kiss Red Sox fans" shirt... I'm sure there aren't too many outside of Red Sox nation that would kiss you.
-Last time I checked, Winter Haven wasn't anywhere near New England... so don't act like you were born and bread up there.
-There is nothing cool about a sleeveless Papelbon jersey. Nothing at all.
-It should be considered child abuse to dress your child up in Red Sox gear.
- Third place suits you so well.
